As the days get longer, you have more of an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, and one of the best ways to spend your time is by having fun with your four-legged friend. Dogs need lots of attention and stimulation — especially in the summer months. One fun idea: inflate a kiddie pool and fill it with water. The heat relief and fun associated with running in and out of the pool will supply entertainment and heat relief for your dog.

Summer is a time for fun. It’s also a time to be cautious and conscientious. It’s up to you to watch for health and safety issues that may adversely affect your dog during the hot summer months – here are some top tips from us:

  • Encourage your dog to drink more water!!!
  • Temperatures are cooler in the early morning hours, so try to get outside with your dog before the heat of the summer sun makes exercise too dangerous for you both.
  • While romping outdoors, your dog is very like to pick up some unwanted hitchhikers. Upon returning indoors, it’s wise to check your dog (and yourself!) thoroughly for ticks and other bug bites.

Check out these great activities you can do with your pooch this summer – remember, don’t over do it – but have fun too! Click here:
