You can easily make much better butter at home in your kitchen than you can buy in the store these days. Up until the early to mid 1900’s, most farm wives were expert butter makers. Butter sales were very local and produced on family farms. If you have a cheap and plentiful supply of cream – a cow grazing in the garden then that’s great, but you’re still unlikely to want to make your own butter day in, day out. But for a special occasion, to go alongside your homemade crumpets or your own freshly baked bread nothing could be more perfect! But best of all, homemade organic butter provides a brilliant, pure flavor without additives or preservatives.  It will keep for a week in the fridge, or six months in the freezer.
