Kids Rain Maker – Create the Sound of Falling Rain!

A rain maker, also called a rain stick, is a musical instruments that makes a sound like falling rain when it is turned over. Traditionally, a rain maker is made from a hollow, dried out cactus but you can make a simple version out of materials from your recycling bin. Even children as young as 4 or 5 years old can make a rain maker with a little adult supervision.

This activity will create:

* creativity and imagination
* knowledge and understanding of the world: instruments, tools, building, design and technology
* distinguishing and describing sounds
* music making
* dance and movement
* fine motor skills: sticking, tearing, glueing, tapping nails, shaking
