Yogurt is one of the most basic traditional foods, and even if you are just getting started with real food, including yogurt in your diet is an easy way to reap so many of the health benefits of cultured dairy. One of the main health benefits of yogurt, besides the protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals, are the probiotics.  Probiotics are the good bacteria that inhabit our guts and help to promote better digestion and increase our immune systems.

I’ve made yogurt on the stove and in a yogurt maker before, but I’ve always worried that it wouldn’t turn out right in the crock pot. Don’t ask me why! The recipe requires very little effort on your part, but it takes a long time to make… The total time to make a crockpot yogurt at home is about 15 hours. This will depend on the heat of the crockpot and the consistency that is required. Another six to eight hours of cooling is necessary until your yogurt is ready to serve. Instructions to make a crockpot yogurt are found on frugalitygal.com here…
