11 Smart Safety Items

Every home should be different, expressing the individuality and personality of the owner in its own way, but I believe there are a few things that every home should have, especially when it comes to safety!!! House fires, power outages, and extreme weather are all real threats to us…. We don’t always think about what we need to do to prepare for emergencies until it’s too late. To make sure you’re prepared with an emergency response plan, take inventory of your home and be sure you have these necessary supplies to keep your loved ones safe and sound in the face of common home hazards!!!
Just remember these few items too, especially if you have babies and small children:
- Large items should be secured to the studs with anti-tip straps. Similar straps also are available for televisions.
- Window guards .
- All open outlets should be plugged with childproof outlet covers.
- Keep cleaners, medications, scissors or other dangerous items out of reach of children. Use latches on the cabinets to keep out little fingers! Also latch cabinets and drawers in the kitchen or other rooms too!
- Put safety gates at the top and bottom of stairs, and at the entrance to the kitchen, garage or other off-limits area.
