If you are thinking of setting up your first hive then this article is for you! Setting up a beehive is not difficult. You just have to know a few things. And it is pretty much like anything else, you have to learn a few new words and terms and what the various things are. The Hive is going to be the biggest expense when it comes to raising bees. From there you will probably spend a little to get your batch of bees. Then after that you just need a few tools and some equipment to keep you going in your pursuit of beekeeping.

I would suggest you check with a doctor if you or any of your family members are allergic to bee stings, as you can suffer significant health consequences if stung! A doctor can do a simple test to check whether you or any member of your family is at risk. It may also be polite to make your neighbors aware too as I am pretty sure they wouldn’t like a trip to the hospital if they had a reaction! You need to think about registering your hive – Find your local extension service by calling your county government or Google. Then ask if you need to register your bees. Most states require that you register all hives, and that they be inspected once a year. For more information on how to get started, click the link below!
